APPLICATIONS/NOMINATIONS ARE INVITED FOR THE POST OF DIRECTOR,

INSTITUTE FOR STEM CELL SCIENCE AND REGENERATIVE MEDICINE (inStem)

BANGALORE.

Institute for Stem Cell Science and Regenerative Medicine (DBT-inStem), an Autonomous Institute of

the Department of Biotechnology, Government of India was established in 2009 and is located in the

GKVK Campus, Bengaluru. The Centre for Stem Cell Research (CSCR) is the clinical translational unit

of inStem in partnership with and located at CMC Ve llore, Tamil Nadu. InStem's core mandate is to

establish collaborative research programs tackling major questions in stem cell biology and

regeneration with disease relevance and translational emphasis. inStem has established well-defined

thematic research structures, comprising teams of investigators to collectively address complex

problems of biology in the context of tissue repair following injury and inflammation, brain disorders,

cardiac disease, metabolic regulation of cell function and a dedicated programme on chemical

approaches aiding discovery injury repair. Today, the institute's-15 research groups (set to grow

further), operate in major thematic programs. Commitment to the development of translational

capabilities through programmatic partnerships with universities, research institutes, clinicians and

industry as well as the establishment of platfom technologies and development of sophisticated

technical capabilities, enabling endeavours across themes, are major thrusts of our efforts. inStem

shares a campus and core facilities with the National Centre of Biological Sciences (NCBS, TIFR) and

the Centre for Cellular and Molecular Platform (C-CAMP), which together comprise the Bangalore Life

Science Cluster. inStem's investigators partner with international collaborators for specific projects of

joint interest. Through these partnerships, the Institute has developed a strong research foundation

with state-of-the-art facilities to attract investigators to its theme-driven, interconnected network of

The Department of Biotechnology. Government of India, invites applications from eminent scientists

having proven scientific record in life or medical sciences with application to disease (not limited to Stem

Cell Biology), and possessing research excellent leadership and administrative abilities for the post of

Director on Deputation (including short term contract)/Absorption.

Scale of Pay and other benefits: The selected incumbent will be placed in the Level-17 (As per 7th CPC)

Apex Scale: Rs. 225000/- (Fixed). Other benefit s/allowances shall be as per rules of Government of India

applicable for appointment on deputation including Short-Term Contract/Absorption basis.

Eligibility Criteria:

I.

Scientists from Central/State Governments, Research Institutes, Autonomous Bodies,

Government funded Research Organizations Institutes, etc.

2. Holding analogous post on regular basis in the parent Department; or

3. With 5 years service in post with Grade Pay of 10,000/- or 7 CPC level 14 or equivalent

in the parent cadre/Department and possesses the qualification & experience as below:-

Essential:

(i) PhD in any life science discipline/MD/M. Tech or equivalent.

(ii) Minimum 15 years experience of research in the area of specialization.

(iii) An outstanding track record of research accomplishments as evidenced by excellent

scientific publications, patent and awards.

Desirable:

Experience in successfully running large programme.centre, institution.

2. Experience of guiding research activities in the area of specialization.
