Engagement of Experienced Personnel on Contract Basis through POWERGRID Common FTE Written Test 2025
A Maharatna PSU

POWERGRID, one of the largest transmission utilities in the world and a Maharatna enterprise of Govt. of India, is inviting applications for engagement on a fixed term contract basis for ongoing and anticipated projects across India and its subsidiaries. The contract period is for an initial 24 months or till project completion, and can be extended annually up to 5 years maximum, based on requirements.

Across regions/projects, the following posts are being recruited:

Field Engineer (Electrical)
Field Engineer (Civil)
Field Supervisor (Electrical)
Field Supervisor (Civil)
Field Supervisor (Electronics & Communication)

Total vacancies: 1543 (subject to change as per requirement, specific break-up per region/project provided in the official notification).
Regions include: Delhi, Rajasthan, Himachal Pradesh, Punjab, J&K, Ladakh, Chandigarh, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, Odisha, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Karnataka, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry, Maharashtra, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Andaman & Nicobar, Dadra & Nagar Haveli, Daman & Diu.

Reservation & relaxation are applicable as per Govt. of India guidelines for SC/ST/OBC(NCL)/EWS/ExSM/PwBD/Victims of Riots. Complete details for PwBD eligibility and identification of suitable posts are available in the official notification.

Eligibility Criteria

Field Engineer (Electrical/Civil):

Full-time B.E./B.Tech./B.Sc. (Engg.) in relevant discipline from recognized university/institute with minimum 55% marks.
At least one year post-qualification experience in relevant field (Design/Engineering/Construction/Testing & Commissioning, etc. in specified sectors).
Age limit: 29 years as on 17.09.2025.

Field Supervisor (Electrical/Civil/Electronics & Communication):

Full-time Diploma in relevant discipline from recognized Technical Board/Institute with minimum 55% marks.
At least one year post-qualification experience in relevant field.
Higher technical qualification (like B.Tech/B.E./M.Tech/M.E.) is not allowed for Field Supervisor posts.
Age limit: 29 years as on 17.09.2025.

Experience in PSU/Listed company, especially in power sector, will be preferred for all posts.

Compensation & Benefits

Field Engineer:

Pay band: ₹30,000 – 1,20,000/- + DA + HRA + Perks @ 35% of basic pay. Annual CTC: ₹8.9 lakhs approx.

Field Supervisor:

Pay band: ₹23,000 – 1,05,000/- + DA + HRA + Perks @ 35% of basic pay. Annual CTC: ₹6.8 lakhs approx.

Additional benefits: EPF, gratuity, casual/sick/earned leave, medical and accident insurance as per company rules. Contract personnel are covered under applicable acts/rules and entitled for medical benefits (self for first year, and family from second year onwards).

Selection Process

Candidates must register for the POWERGRID Common FTE Written Test-2025.
The written test will be conducted pan-India in a single day (details to be notified).
Test comprises Technical Knowledge (50 MCQs) + Aptitude (25 MCQs: General English, Reasoning, Quantitative Aptitude, General Awareness).
No negative marking.
Qualifying marks: 40% (UR/EWS), 30% (reserved).
Candidates will choose between Hindi or English medium.
Empanelment/interview/document verification as per role (details provided in official notification).
