The University of Jammu, a NAAC Accredited A++ Grade University, has released an advertisement notice through its Department of Remote Sensing & GIS. The recruitment is for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) for an ISRO-funded project at the Space Application Centre.

The project is titled “Study of glacier dynamics and mass balance of benchmark glaciers of Ladakh Himalayas using NISAR data sets”. This is a significant research opportunity for candidates looking to work in the field of glaciology and remote sensing within the Himalayan region.

Emoluments: Rs. 37,000/- + 20% HRA

Educational Qualifications:

Candidates must possess a Post Graduate Degree in Basic Science OR a Graduate/Post Graduate Degree in Professional Course. Selection must be through National Eligibility Tests such as CSIR-UGC NET (including lectureship) and GATE, or national level examinations conducted by Central Government Departments/Agencies like DST, DBT, DAE, DOS, DRDO, MHRD, ICAR, ICMR, IIT, IISc, IISER, etc.

Desirable Criteria:

Preference will be given to candidates with a Master’s degree in RS & GIS, Geomatics Engineering, Geoinformatics, Environmental Sciences, Applied Geology, or Geology. Working experience in the Himalayas, knowledge of SAR Remote sensing, and work on Glacier science at the PG level are highly desirable.
