🏛️ Fellowship Overview
The Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF) has officially invited applications for the National Postdoctoral Fellowship (NPDF) 2026. This prestigious fellowship aims to support highly motivated young researchers to pursue independent, high-impact research in frontier areas of science, engineering, and technology within India.
The ANRF-NPDF is one of India’s most competitive postdoctoral programs, designed to strengthen the country’s research ecosystem and promote global-standard scientific excellence.
💰 Fellowship Benefits & Financial Support
Selected fellows will receive the following comprehensive financial assistance:
- 💵 Fellowship Amount: ₹80,000 per month + HRA (as per government norms)
- 🔬 Research Grant: ₹2,00,000 per annum (for consumables, contingencies, and travel)
- 🏫 Institutional Overheads: ₹1,00,000 per annum payable to the host institution
- ⏳ Fellowship Duration: 2 years (non-extendable)
✅ Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must fulfill the following conditions:
🎓 Educational Qualification
- Ph.D. / M.D. / M.S. degree holders
- Candidates who have submitted their thesis and are awaiting degree award are also eligible
🎂 Age Limit
- Maximum age: 35 years at the time of application
- Age relaxation applicable as per Government of India rules
⏱️ Experience Timeline
- Must apply within 5 years from the date of Ph.D. viva-voce examination
🚫 Restrictions
- Applicant cannot work with their Ph.D. guide or co-guide
- Applicant cannot apply to the same department/institution where the Ph.D. degree was awarded
👨🏫 Mentor Guidelines
- A mentor can submit a maximum of two applications per call
- A mentor can supervise not more than two ANRF-NPDF fellows at any given time
