The Department of Atomic Energy (DAE) Doctoral Fellowship Scheme (DDFS) is one of India’s most prestigious fellowships for engineering researchers. Administered through the Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI), it provides an opportunity to work on cutting-edge nuclear science and advanced engineering projects.

Candidates are advised to prepare for the CBT by revising GATE-level engineering mathematics and core subject fundamentals. Since final selection depends heavily on the interview, having a clear research interest or tentative proposal aligned with work at BARC, IGCAR, RRCAT, IPR, or VECC is highly beneficial.

The ₹80,000 per month stipend is among the highest PhD fellowships in India, reflecting the importance of advanced technical expertise in the atomic energy sector.
