About the RDI Scheme
The Government of India has approved the establishment of a ₹1 Trillion Research, Development and Innovation (RDI) Scheme to promote a private sector-driven R&D ecosystem. The Department of Science & Technology (DST) is the nodal agency for implementing this scheme.
The RDI scheme operates through a two-tier funding structure:
- A Special Purpose Fund (SPF) known as the RDI Fund, housed within ANRF, acts as the custodian of the ₹1 Trillion corpus.
- The fund channels capital to Second-level Fund Managers such as AIFs, DFIs, NBFCs, etc., which in turn provide long-term, low-interest loans or equity funding to the private sector.
