DWBI has been working in Kashmir since 2001, offering mental health services and medical care to communities affected by conflict, disasters, and healthcare exclusion.

VACANCY DETAILS

Position: Clinical Psychologist

Job Location: Sopore, Jammu & Kashmir
Contract Duration: 01 Year (Renewable)
Start Date: As soon as possible

Salary (Gross): ₹75,750/- per month (Non-negotiable)

PURPOSE OF THE POST

To provide psychological support to patients in line with DWBI principles, standards, and procedures, aiming to improve patients’ mental health and psychosocial wellbeing.

FUNCTIONAL & HIERARCHICAL LINES

Hierarchical Supervisor: Mental Health Supervisor (MHS)
Functional Accountability: Mental Health Activity Manager (MHAM)

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

Assess mental health needs, establish diagnoses, and prepare treatment plans
Provide individual, family, and group psychotherapy sessions
Implement Sexual & Gender-Based Violence (SGBV) protocols
Refer patients to medical professionals when required
Train and support staff and community resource persons
Maintain patient confidentiality at all times
Collect and report mental health monitoring data
Participate in clinical supervision, case discussions, and project meetings

CONTEXT-SPECIFIC RESPONSIBILITIES

Deliver psychotherapy and counselling as per DWBI, WHO & MoH guidelines
Conduct psychoeducational workshops (stress management, trauma recovery, resilience)
Conduct suicide/self-harm risk assessments and safety planning
Refer clients to specialized care when needed
Support community-based resilience-building initiatives
Collaborate with community leaders and mental health professionals
Participate in operational research related to mental health in Kashmir
Be flexible for deployment during emergencies

RECORDING, REPORTING & OTHER TASKS

Maintain accurate and confidential patient records
Support MHAM/MHS in quality data collection and reporting
Assist Health Promotion teams in psychosocial activities
Participate in program evaluation and research initiatives
Support communication and advocacy activities of MSF Kashmir Project

REQUIREMENTS

Education

Essential: M.Phil in Clinical Psychology
Must be RCI registered and licensed as a Clinical Psychologist

Experience

Minimum 1 year post M.Phil experience (Essential)
Previous experience with DWBI/MSF or similar organizations (Desirable)
Experience in community-based and trauma-informed care settings

Languages

Essential: English
Local Language: Kashmiri
