Government Medical College (GMC) Handwara has issued Advertisement Notice No. 17-SR/GMCH/2025 dated 21-11-2025, inviting applications from eligible candidates for engagement as Senior Residents, Tutors, and Demonstrators on Academic Arrangement Basis under S.O. 364 of 2020 dated 27-11-2020. Posts are available in the departments of Biochemistry and Pathology for a period of one year, extendable up to three years based on conduct and performance.

Eligibility Criteria

Applicants must possess the requisite MBBS/MSc/MD/MS/DNB/PhD qualifications, NMC registration, and relevant documents/testimonials as specified. Preference will be given to candidates with additional higher qualifications and prior experience. The maximum age for eligibility is 50 years as on the cutoff date. Candidates with higher qualifications will be preferred.

Non-PG candidates with one-year experience in the relevant department may be considered if no PG-qualified applicant is available; tenure for such engagement is one year only. No private practice or alternate employment is allowed during engagement.

Application forms are available for download on the official website www.gmchandwara.co.in and should be submitted, duly filled, along with all requisite documents and a demand draft of Rs. 500 (from Jammu & Kashmir Bank) in favour of Chief Accounts Officer, GMC Handwara, to the Registrar Academics, Govt. Medical College Handwara.

Last date for submission: 05-12-2025 (up to 3:00 pm).

Selection is strictly as per government orders, criteria/policy guidelines for eligibility, and vacancy as sanctioned by the Health & Medical Education Department. Mere submission of documents does not guarantee selection; candidature is provisional pending verification and final decision by competent authority.

Important Instructions

• First salary is held as security deposit, released only on successful completion of the first year.
• Appointment is provisional, subject to government verification of certificates and conduct.
• Engagement may be cancelled/modified any time by the authority without prior notice.
• The waiting list remains valid for a period of 6 months from the selection date.
• No experience certificate is given if tenure is abandoned before 1 year.

The selected candidates must execute an agreement not to leave the post before completing tenure; salary deposit and experience certificate will be forfeited if abandoned.

• Degree, registration certificate, marks certificates, higher qualification certificates, date of birth certificate, domicile, affidavits, service/NOC certificates (in-service candidates), experience certificate (if applicable), and other documents as required.
