Government of Jammu and Kashmir, Office of the Principal, Government Medical College Handwara has issued an official recruitment notification regarding the engagement of Senior Residents and Demonstrators.

The applications are invited from eligible candidates for vacancies available in various departments of GMC Handwara. These positions are purely on an Academic Arrangement basis under S.O. 364 of 2020 dated 27-11-2020.

The initial appointment will be for a period of one (01) year, which is extendable up to a maximum of three (03) years based on the work conduct and performance reported by the concerned Head of the Department. Application forms from in-service eligible candidates (PSC) shall be entertained after fulfillment of all pre-requisites in accordance with relevant rules as envisaged in the J&K Civil Service rules 1979 and production of NOC from the parent department.

S.NO	DEPARTMENT	Eligibility Criteria as per Teachers Eligibility Qualifications in Medical Institutions Regulations, 2025
1.	Anatomy	i. MBBS with MD/DNB in the concerned discipline from an Institution recognized by National Medical Commission and registered with J&K State Medical Council. Or ii. Post-graduate Medical Degree in Master of Science with Doctor of Philosophy in the medical subjects of concerned discipline from a recognized medical institution.
2.	Physiology	i. MBBS with MD/DNB in the concerned discipline from an Institution recognized by National Medical Commission and registered with J&K State Medical Council. Or ii. Post-graduate Medical Degree in Master of Science with Doctor of Philosophy in the medical subjects of concerned discipline from a recognized medical institution.
3.	General Medicine	MBBS with MD/DNB in the concerned discipline from an Institution recognized by National Medical Commission and registered with J&K State Medical Council.
4.	Psychiatry
5.	Radiotherapy
6.	ENT

Terms and Conditions:

1. The appointees shall not be entitled to private practice or undertake simultaneous part-time / full-time jobs anywhere else. They shall work on a full-time basis. Government Medical College Handwara GMCH Senior Residents employment opportunities notice 11-SR/GMCH of 2026

2. The selected candidates shall have to execute an agreement that they shall not leave the department before completion of their sanctioned tenure, failing which the security deposit shall be forfeited and no experience certificate shall be issued. Candidates shall not claim any experience certificate if they abandon the tenure position prior to completion of the first year.

3. The first salary shall be kept as a security deposit by the accounts department and shall be paid only on successful completion of one (01) year.

4. The maximum age for eligibility to apply shall be 45 years as on the cut-off date of submission. For the departments of Anatomy and Physiology, the maximum age limit for eligibility to apply shall be 50 years as on the cut-off date of submission.

5. Candidates with higher qualifications shall be preferred. Selection will be made strictly as per guidelines laid down in Govt. Order No. 383 JK(HME) of 2024 Dated 20-06-2024 and vacancy strength under Govt. Order No. 307-JK(HME) of 2022 Dated 18-05-2022.

6. Mere submission of documentation does not guarantee selection; the candidature remains provisional and subject to cancellation if found ineligible at any stage. The decision of the competent authority is final. A waiting list will remain active for three (03) months from the selection list publication date.

The application form, duly filled along with self-attested copies of required documents/testimonials, must be accompanied by a Demand Draft of Rs. 500 (Rupees Five Hundred) only from Jammu Kashmir Bank pledged to the Chief Accounts Officer, Govt. Medical College Handwara.

Completed application sets must be physically submitted in the office of the Registrar Academics, Govt. Medical College, Handwara.

Required Documents: 1. MBBS/MSc Degree and State/NMC Registration Certificate, 2. MD/MS/DNB/PhD degree with Additional Qualification Registration Certificate, 3. Marks Certificates of MBBS/MSc for each year, 4. Higher Qualification Certificate (Super specialties DM/MCH/DNB), 5. Other additional certificates, 6. Date of Birth Certificate, 7. Domicile certificate, 8. First-class magistrate affidavit stating non-enrollment in other medical institutions, 9. Service certificate for in-service applicants, 10. NOC/Prior Permission from Administrative department as per circular no 02-JK (HME) of 2020 dated 20-01-2020 read with G.O No. 03 HME of 2019 dated 27-05-2019.
