The Health & Medical Education Department, Government of J&K, through the Government Medical College (GMC) Anantnag, has released Advertisement Notice No. 02 GMCA of 2026. Applications are invited from eligible candidates domiciled in the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir for tenure posts of Senior Residents.

The recruitment is open for the disciplines of General Surgery and Radiotherapy. Candidates must possess an MBBS degree with MS/MD/DNB in the concerned discipline from an institution recognized by the National Medical Commission and must be registered with the J&K State Medical Council.

Selected candidates will be engaged initially for a period of one year, extendable up to a maximum of three years. This extension is subject to year-to-year performance certification by the concerned Head of Department (HOD).

Interested candidates can apply online starting from 24-01-2026 via the official college website at www.gmcanantnag.ac.in. The hard copy of the application form, duly signed and accompanied by a non-refundable bank draft of Rs. 500, must be submitted by 07-02-2026.

The bank draft should be pledged to the Principal, Govt. Medical College Anantnag, and payable at JK Bank Dialgam. Applicants must ensure they upload scanned copies of original certificates, as photocopies will not be accepted during the online process.

The maximum age limit for eligibility is 45 years as of the cutoff date (07-02-2026). However, for specific disciplines like Anatomy, Physiology, and Community Medicine, the upper age limit is extended to 50 years. Selection will be based on performance in an MCQ-based written test.
