Recruitment Notice: GMC Handwara Academic Arrangement 2026

The Government Medical College (GMC) Handwara has issued a fresh advertisement notice for the engagement of Senior Residents, Tutors, and Demonstrators. These positions are being filled on an Academic Arrangement basis under S.O. 364 of 2020.

The initial engagement will be for a period of one year, which is extendable up to a maximum of three years. This extension is strictly based on the work conduct and performance reports submitted by the respective Heads of Departments.

Candidates from both the open market and in-service (PSC) categories are eligible to apply, provided they meet the pre-requisites and J&K Civil Service rules. Maximum age for eligibility is set at 50 years as of the cut-off date.

Eligibility and Selection Criteria

Selection will be governed by Govt. Order No. 383 JK(HME) of 2024 and sanctioned strength under Govt. Order No. 307-JK(HME) of 2022. Candidates with higher qualifications will be given preference during the selection process.

Applicants must possess an MBBS/MSc degree along with MD/MS/DNB/PhD in the relevant specialty. Valid registration with the State Medical Council or NMC is mandatory for all medical posts.

Selected candidates are prohibited from engaging in private practice or any other part-time/full-time jobs. A formal agreement must be signed ensuring the completion of the sanctioned tenure.

Submission Requirements

Interested candidates must provide self-attested copies of their degree certificates, marks cards for all years, and a domicile certificate. An affidavit from a 1st Class Magistrate is also required stating the candidate is not on the rolls of any other medical institution.

The application must be accompanied by a Demand Draft of Rs. 500 from Jammu Kashmir Bank. This draft should be pledged to the Chief Accounts Officer, Govt. Medical College Handwara.
