Applications are invited for the post of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) in a research project entitled “Development of Deep Learning Methods for Object Recognition in Underwater Acoustic Images” in reference to the sanction order Project No.: NRB/553/SC/25-26 dated: 04.08.2025 by Naval Research Board (NRB), Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO)/Ministry of Defence, Govt. of India.

The Naval Science & Technological Laboratory (NSTL), Visakhapatnam is the collaborating research lab in the project. Duration	The project duration is for 3 Years. The candidate will be appointed initially for one year and may be extended for another year/till completion of the project based on satisfactory performance. After two years, the candidate may be given SRF after satisfactory performance evaluation.
Essential Qualifications	JRF: BTech/MTech/Equivalent in CSE/IT/ECE/Equivalent
Desirable Qualifications	(i) GATE Qualified in last 3 Year (ii) Knowledge of Deep Learning, Machine Learning, and Computer Vision. (iii) Exposure of Python programming including PyTorch and Tensorflow tools. (iv) The preference may be given to the candidates who published papers in reputed Journals/Conferences.
Fellowship	As per the funding agency norm. For JRF, Rs. 37000 + 20% HRA and for SRF Rs. 42000 + 20% HRA as per the rules.
Location	The primary location is IIIT Allahabad. The candidate may also visit Naval Science & Technological Laboratory (NSTL), Visakhapatnam as per the requirement.

Note:

The above post is purely temporary and co-terminus with the project.
The applicant will be responsible for the authenticity of information, other documents and scan copies submitted.
The interview will be conducted in Offline/Online Mode. Further details will be sent only to shortlisted candidates.
The offer of appointment to the candidates will be purely on contractual basis for one year initially. It may be extended for another year/till the completion of the project based on satisfactory performance of the candidate. After two years, the candidate may be given SRF after satisfactory performance evaluation. The progress evaluation will be conducted every three months.
The selected candidates need to join immediately.
No TA/DA will be applicable to the candidates for appearing for the interview or joining the duty.
The Institute reserves the right to accept applications at any time, and consider candidates with exceptional credentials without applications. Qualification and experience may be relaxed at any point of time for exceptional candidates.
Mere, possessing the prescribed qualifications does not ensure that the candidate would be called for Interview. The shortlisting will be done based on the need of the project.
Only shortlisted candidates will be informed by e-mail about the interview date. So, the candidate must provide valid E-mail IDs in their applications.
Applicants in government/semi-government employment are required to submit a “No Objection Certificate” from the employer.
The first and foremost responsibility of the candidate is to fulfill the jobs’ requirements to complete the abovementioned project in a timely manner.
The JRF can be promoted to SRF after two years of relevant research experience and on the recommendation of the project progress monitoring committee.
Leaving the project before the end of the project is strongly discouraged. Candidate will not be entitled for any experience certificate if leaving the project without completing at least one year with satisfactory performance.
The association between PI and the candidate can be discontinued at any time by giving one month’s notice in writing either by the PI of the project to the candidate, or by candidate to the PI of the project.
Candidate selected for this position is encouraged to apply for the regular PhD program at IIIT Allahabad, provided they satisfy the eligibility criterion followed by the selection process laid down by the institute.
