IIT Jammu Recruitment 2026 – Junior Research Fellow (JRF)
Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu has invited applications from eligible Indian candidates for the post of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) under an ISRO-sponsored research project.
Project Title
Design and Development of Ultraviolet Detectors based on Wide Band Gap Semiconductors
This is an excellent opportunity for candidates interested in Microelectronics, Semiconductor Research, and PhD prospects at IIT Jammu.
Position Details
- Post Name: Junior Research Fellow (JRF)
- Number of Posts: 01
- Tenure: Initially 6 months (extendable up to 2 years based on performance)
- Location: IIT Jammu
- Salary: ₹37,000 per month + 20% HRA
- Age Limit: 28 years
- SC/ST/Women: 5 years relaxation
- OBC-NCL: 3 years relaxation
Educational Qualifications
For General/EWS/OBC Candidates
- B.E./B.Tech or M.E./M.Tech in ECE/EIE/EEE/ETC/EE or allied branches
- Minimum 60% marks or 6.0 CGPA
- Valid GATE score required for candidates applying for PhD after B.E./B.Tech/M.Sc.
For SC/ST/PH Candidates
- Minimum 55% marks or 5.5 CGPA
PhD Candidates
- Candidates who have submitted or defended their PhD thesis in Microelectronics or allied areas are also eligible.
Job Description
The selected JRF will work on AlGaN-based UV photodetector devices, focusing on:
- Modeling and simulation
- Device fabrication
- Material and device characterization
- Optimization of parameters such as:
- Dark Current
- Responsivity
- Detectivity
This role offers hands-on experience in advanced semiconductor research and cleanroom technologies.
