Subject: Appointment of Chairperson and Members of Real Estate Regulatory Authority, J&K.
Applications in the enclosed format are invited from eligible persons for selection to the post of Chairperson and Member(s) of the Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA) for the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir, to be appointed in accordance with the Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Act, 2016 (https://rera.jk.gov.in/images/Docs/RealEstate_Act_2016.pdf) read with Jammu and Kashmir Real Estate (Regulation and Development) Rules, 2020 (Rules) (https://rera.jk.gov.in/Images/Docs/Real%20Estate%20Rules,%20

2. Eligibility Criteria: (Refer Section 22 of the Act)
a) For Chairperson: The applicant shall have adequate knowledge and professional experience of at-least twenty years in urban development, housing, real estate development, infrastructure, economics, technical
experts from relevant fields, planning, law, commerce, accountancy, industry, management, social service, public affairs or administration. A person who is, or has been, in the service of a State Government shall not
be appointed as a Chairperson unless such person has held the post of Additional Secretary to the Central Government or any equivalent post in the Central Government or State Government. b) For Members: The applicant shall have adequate knowledge and professional experience of at-least fifteen years in urban development, housing realestate development, infrastructure, economics, technical experts from relevant fields, planning, law, commerce, accountancy, industry, management, social service, public affairs or administration. A person who is, or has been, in the service of a State Government shall not be ap pointed as a Member unless such person has held the post of Secretary to the State Government or any equivalent post in the State Government or Central Government.
3. Term of office of Chairperson and Members (Refer Section 23 of the Act)
(1) (2) The applicants shall not have any such financial or other interest as is likely to affect, prejudicially, his functions as such Chairperson/Member.
The Chairperson and Members shall hold office for a term not exceeding five years or until they attain the age of sixty-five years, whichever is earlier and shall not be eligible for re-appointment.
4. Salary and allowances (Refer rule 18 of the Rules
Chairperson/ Member Salary and allowances equal to last drawn salary minus pension. A member who has not been a government servant skal be paid salary and allowances as may be notified by the Government.
