The Jammu and Kashmir Services Selection Board (JKSSB) has released Advertisement Notification No. 05 of 2026 for the direct recruitment of UT Cadre posts of Warder in the J&K Prisons Department under the Home Department. Vacancy & Cadre Details

A total of 288 vacancies have been advertised under Pay Level-2 (Rs. 19,900 – 63,200). The category-wise breakup of the positions is distributed as follows:

The academic requirement prescribed for these positions specifies a minimum qualification of Matriculation (10th) and a maximum of 10+2 from a recognized Board of School Education or Institution.

Eligibility Conditions & Age Limits

Domicile Requirement: Candidates must be valid Domiciles of the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir and possess a valid Domicile Certificate issued by the competent authority on or before the cut-off date of 25-08-2026.

Age Limitations (as on 01-01-2026):

• Open Merit (OM): Maximum 40 years (Born between 01-01-1986 and 01-01-2008).
• SC / ST-1 / ST-2 / RBA / ALC-IB / EWS / OBC: Maximum 43 years (Born between 01-01-1983 and 01-01-2008).
• Ex-Servicemen: Permitted to deduct the period of protected armed forces service from actual age, up to a maximum relaxation limit. Candidates must submit a duly sworn affidavit before a 1st Class Judicial Magistrate.

Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD) are officially designated as not eligible for these specific positions.

Physical Standards & Selection Criteria

The selection process comprises three main phases: a Written Examination (Objective Type, Multiple Choice Questions in English with a 1/4th negative marking format), followed by a Physical Standard Test (PST) and a Physical Endurance Test (PET).

1. Physical Standard Test (PST) – Qualifying Nature

• Male Candidates: Minimum Height: 5′-6″; Minimum Chest: 32″ to 33.5″
• Female Candidates: Minimum Height: 5′-2″

Candidates will be shortlisted for the PST based on written test merit in a ratio of 1:6 per category.

2. Physical Endurance Test (PET) – Qualifying Nature

• Male Candidates: 1600 meters long race in 6 minutes 30 seconds, and 20 full push-ups.
• Female Candidates: 1000 meters long race in 6 minutes 30 seconds, and Shot Put (4 Kgs) over 14.5 feet in three attempts.

Relaxed endurance test norms are explicitly applicable to Ex-Servicemen across specified age cohorts (Upto 30 years, 30 to 40 years, and Above 40 years).

REGISTRATION FEES & ONLINE APPLICATION PROCEDURE

Application Forms must be submitted online exclusively through the official portal of JKSSB at www.jkssb.nic.in. No hard copies should be submitted to the office structure.

Application Fees: Rs. 700 for Open Merit (OM) candidates; Rs. 600 for candidates belonging to SC, ST-1, ST-2, and EWS categories. Payment can be made solely via online operational modules (Net Banking, Credit/Debit Cards).

During physical Document Verification, shortlisted applicants must present original certificates along with self-attested photocopies of their Academic Qualifications, Matriculation Date of Birth proof, Domicile certificate, and Category status vouchers.
