Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF)/ Doctors Without Borders (DWBI) is an international humanitarian medical aid organization working in

more than 70 countries worldwide. DWBI is neutral, impartial, independent, and not linked to any political party or government. Our

teams provide emergency medical assistance to people in need, irrespective of their nationality, race or religion. DWBI has been working

in the Kashmir valley since 2001.

Academic Requirement: M. Phil in Clinical Psychology from institute/university recognized by RCI

Experience:

– Preferably 2 years experience in clinical counseling

Working experience with MSF or other NGO, is desirable.

– Experience in giving training and development of training modules will be considered as an advantage

Other Benifits:

Salary Gross (INR): 54900/- per month (non-negotiable)

18 days annual leave; 12 days paid holidays as per specified list of holidays for calendar year; Casual/Sick leave of 12 days as per

calendar year (pro-rated based on hire date).

Contributions made for statutory benefit programs such as Provident Fund.

Covered under accident insurance.

DWBI provides medical reimbursement for employees and their first dependents as per health care policy.

Job Focus:

Providing psychological support to patients according to DWBI principles, standards and procedures in order to improve the patients

mental health.

Accountabilities:

• Carrying out evaluation of mental health needs of patients and establishing a diagnosis and a plan of treatment. Informing the patient

and his/her relatives about the possible consequences of the illness and the drug treatment to follow and referring patients to other

health professionals whenever necessary, in order to provide the most appropriate treatment and improve the patient’s condition

• Implementing the Sexual Gender Based Violence (SGBV) protocol, identifying possible victims of SGBV and referring them to the

medical team so that they receive the necessary treatment.

• Providing psychological support and psychotherapy sessions (individual, family, group) to patients according to DWBI protocols in

order to improve their mental health conditions

• Assisting and training staff members and resourceful people whenever necessary in order to enhance the scope of MH activities.

Collecting statistical and monitoring data about mental health activities

Informing the supervisor and the medical team about any issues or problems that may arise related to patients’ treatment in order to

provide the best possible solution from a medical perspective

• Ensuring that all patient information is kept confidential.

Counselling:

Actively promotes the availability of counselling services.

Conducts individual and group counselling for patients, their families and hospital staff.

Develops self-help group to strengthen community support in fostering trauma.

Conducts therapeutic activities that will help beneficiaries to be prepared psychologically (individual and group) and to help them

overcome the trauma.

Conducts family counselling or family therapy to strengthen family support.

Conducts basic psychological assessment to evaluate beneficiaries’ psychological state (for example social and emotional status).

Refers clients, when necessary.

Conducts psycho-educational sessions.

Monitoring:

Keeps systematic records of work and maintains confidentiality.

Makes regular reports of work to the supervisors.

Assists the MHAM with (medical) data collection and data entry when needed.

Gives support on other pending needs in the team.

Teamwork and continuing education:

-Takes active part in trainings, supervisions, interventions and outreach activities.

Discusses difficulties and challenges connected to work or team/staff with supervisor.

Undergoes individual therapy.

-Train other team members in specific psychological interventions as needed and appropriate.

Operational Research:

-Actively participates in operational research related to MH in Kashmir, as required.

Language:

• Mission Language English and Local Language Kashmiri is essentail.
