National Law University Delhi has instituted a research grant programme that seeks to provide two annual research grants of Rs. 5 lakhs each to academics and researchers based in any Indian institution/organisation.
There are no limitations on the current field of work in which applicants are engaged and neither are there limitations on the themes or areas of study, as long as the research proposals engage with law/ legal institutions/ legal cultures/ legal policy through doctrinal/ empirical/ socio-legal/ social science methods.
नेशनल लॉ यूनिवर्सिटी दिल्ली ने एक शोध अनुदान कार्यक्रम शुरू किया है, जिसके तहत किसी भी भारतीय संस्थान/संगठन में कार्यरत शिक्षाविदों और शोधकर्ताओं को ₹5 लाख प्रत्येक के दो वार्षिक शोध अनुदान प्रदान किए जाएंगे।
Grant Value, Duration & Objective / अनुदान मूल्य, अवधि और उद्देश्य
Program Objective:
This research grant programme aims to develop high quality research that delivers a deeper understanding of law/ legal institutions/ legal cultures/ legal policy. The University’s endeavour is to promote innovative research projects that contribute to the advancement of legal and interdisciplinary scholarship. The proposals may focus on studying and understanding complex challenges through purely legal scholarship or by leveraging interdisciplinary/ multidisciplinary approaches.
Value and Duration of Research Grants:
– Two annual research grants of Rs. 5 lakhs each.
– The duration of each grant will be for one year only.
Eligibility Criteria / पात्रता मानदंड
- Individuals currently working in any Indian higher educational institution in academic/ research roles are eligible to apply.
- Applicants must necessarily have a Master’s degree.
- At least three years of demonstrable work experience in an academic/ research role.
- The proposal must be a standalone project and cannot be part of a larger project.
- Successful applicants should be able to provide an institutional bank account into which the research grant will be received. The institutional bank account must belong to the institution at which the applicant is currently employed.
Application Process & Required Documents / आवेदन प्रक्रिया और आवश्यक दस्तावेज
Applications will be accepted only through the online portal developed for this purpose. Applicants will be required to submit the following documents as part of the online application form (incomplete applications will not be eligible):
- Research Proposal: No more than 2500 words comprising a statement of research objectives, significance of the research, research methodology, and research questions with brief explanations.
- Progress Milestones Document: No more than 1500 words providing details on the quarterly targets towards completion of the research proposed within one year.
- Budget Outline: No more than two-levels of subheads under each head of expenditure. (Note: Total expenses on human resources cannot exceed 70%. Foreign travel and expenses during such travel are not eligible costs under this grant).
- List of Publications: A document that comprises a list of publications and research outcomes.
- CV: Comprehensive CV of the applicant.
- Educational Degrees: Scanned versions of Master’s and any higher educational degrees (Certificates below Master’s level need not be uploaded).
- Institutional Letterhead Letter: A letter on the institutional letterhead signed by the employer stating that:
- The employer has considered the research proposal and has authorised the application;
- The research grant can be received into the institution’s bank account and that it can be disbursed according to the norms of the research grant letter;
- The institution will submit a utilisation certificate to NLU Delhi on completion of the work under the grant or at the end of one year from the award of the grant, whichever is earlier;
- The institution undertakes to refund any remaining amount under the grant due to non-utilisation for any reason whatsoever.
Selection Procedure & Monitoring / चयन प्रक्रिया और निगरानी
Selection Procedure:
– A Research Grants Selection Committee constituted by the Vice-Chancellor shall assess the applications and shortlist applicants for an interaction and detailed discussion.
– Based on the research proposal and interaction, the committee will recommend two successful applicants.
– NLU Delhi reserves the right to seek more information/documents during the selection process or not select any candidate if none is found eligible/suitable.
Monitoring & Fund Release:
– The University shall designate an appropriate person for continuous monitoring of the Project.
– The Principal Investigator is required to submit quarterly reports in the prescribed format.
– In the event of unsatisfactory progress and/or inordinate delay, the institution of the Principal Investigator shall be liable to refund the entire amount of funds released.
– The fund will be released in 3 instalments subject to satisfactory progress.
