Advertisement Notice for Contractual Assistant Professor(s)

Applications through online mode are invited from eligible candidates for the following posts purely on contractual basis in the following Department / Centre of the University:

Eligibility:

For the post of Assistant Professor Economics:

(i) A Master’s degree with 55% marks (50% in case of SC/ST/OBC (non creamy layer) or an equivalent grade in a point-scale wherever the grading system is followed in a concerned / relevant/allied subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign university.

For the post of Assistant Professor Science & Society:

(i) A Master’s degree with 55% marks (50% in case of SC/ST/OBC (non creamy layer) or an equivalent grade in a point-scale wherever the grading system is followed in Social Work / Sociology / Science Communication or in a concerned / relevant/allied subjects.

Desirable areas of specialization: (a) Science Communication (b) Citizen Science (c) Social Entrepreneurship (d)

Social Work.

(ii)

Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or the CSIR, or a similar test accredited by the UGC, like SLET/SET or who have been awarded a Ph. D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil./Ph.D Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016 and their amendments from time to time as the case may be.

Note: NET/SLET/SET shall also not be required for such Masters Programmes in disciplines for which NET/SLET/SET is not conducted by the UGC, CSIR or similar test accredited by the UGC, like SLET/SET.

The Ph.D degree has been obtained from a foreign university/institution with a ranking among top 500 in the World University Ranking (at any time) by any one of the following: (i) Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) (ii) the Times Higher Education (THE) or (iii) the Academic Ranking of World Universities (ARWU) of the Shanghai Jiao Tong University (Shanghai). Emoluments:

For candidates having:

Tenure:

The engagement is initially for the year 2025 ending 31st December, 2025 or till the post is filled on substantive basis (whichever is earlier) and is extendable on the basis of annual performance appraisal by the University based on the recommendations of the concerned Head of the Department, Student feedback, requirement and other related parameters.

Leaves/Vacations:

As per norms of the university governing such engagements.

How to Apply:

Eligible candidates shall apply online and pay the requisite fee of Rs 300/- (non-refundable) and thereafter submit the hard copy of the application form along with self-attested copies of the documents and certificates in the offices of respective Heads of the Departments/ Centers on any working day by or before the last date for submission. The candidature of those who fail to submit the hardcopies shall not be considered.

VI. Screening/Shortlisting/Selection Procedure:

The shortlisting of the candidates for interview shall be made as per the criteria/parameters of UGC Regulations-2018 (Appendix II (Table 3A) and the criteria for shortlisting of candidates for interview for the post of Assistant

Professor shall be as follows:

“20 candidates shall be shortlisted for one post and 05 candidates for every additional post”, and the final selection shall be made strictly in terms of the UGC Regulations 2018 (Interview only). Further, the panel recommended by the selection committee shall be valid for one year and during this year, if any vacancy arises due to the resignation or any other reason, the vacancy shall be filled from the panel.

VIII. Terms and Conditions:

a) The applications shall have to be submitted through the University portal www.iust.ac.in under the specified tab.

b) Candidates will have to produce original documents relating to their qualification, experience etc. at the time of appearing in the interview.

c) No TA/DA shall be paid to candidates for appearing in the interview.

d) The time taken by candidates to acquire PG/M.Phil and/or Ph.D degree shall not be considered as teaching /research experience. The period of active service spent on pursuing Research Degree simultaneously with teaching assignment without taking any kind of leave (Part time), shall be counted as teaching experience subject to the submission of certificate to this effect issued by the concerned employer.

e) Qualifications/Experiences shall be counted as on the last date of submission of the application forms.

f) Any publications in predatory/dubious journals or presentations in predatory/dubious conferences shall not be considered for academic credit for selection & confirmation. With effect from 14-06-2019, research publications from journals indexed in UGC-CARE List only would be considered for all academic purposes.

g) An undertaking is to be given by the candidate stating that ‘the publications submitted by him/her are free from any plagiarism and if any plagiarism is found later, his/her candidature/selection shall stand rejected’.

h) In case of any disputes /suites or legal proceedings against the University, the jurisdiction shall be confined to the court of Srinagar only.

i) The engagement of the recommended candidates shall be subject to the outcome of the writ petition(s) (if any) pending in the Hon’ble Courts of J&K.

j) Eligible candidates will be informed about the date and place of interview through University website/e-mail whichever deemed suitable by the University and shall not take any responsibility for non-receipt or delayed receipt of the intimation by a candidate.

k) Candidates who have been awarded postgraduate/Ph. D degree from Foreign University should enclose Equivalence Certificate” issued by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi without which their candidature will not be considered, and application form will be rejected.

1) All relevant information/updates shall be uploaded on University website www.iust.ac.in. The candidates are advised to remain in touch with University website and notifying the same in newspapers shall not be obligatory on University part.

m) The University reserves the right to alter/insert any corrections/additions in the advertisement/website in the event of any typographical error etc. before the last date prescribed for the receipt of applications, for which the candidates are advised to remain in touch with the official website: www.iust.ac.in.

n) The University reserves the right to modify/withdraw/cancel any communication made to the candidate(s) at any stage in the process of selection in case any inadvertent mistake is detected even after the issue of appointment letter.

o) The University reserves the right to terminate the contract mid-way in view of unsatisfactory performance of the candidate by giving one-month notice or one-month salary in lieu of notice.

p) The candidate who intends to resign shall have to submit one-month notice in advance or one-month salary in lieu of notice.
