RECRUITMENT NOTICE FOR FACULTY POSITIONS

Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR) is an Autonomous Organization under the Department of Health Research, Ministry of Health Et Family Welfare, Govt. of India, ICMR is dealing with biomedical/ health research various areas, in collaboration with national/ International agencies, through Its Head Quarters at New Delhi and 27 Institutes/Centers and a large number of field stations, situated across the country..

1. ICMR Invites online applications up to 2nd June, 2025 till 5:30 PM to fill up the 03 vacancies of Professor (Medical) (SC-01 & UR-02) in the level-13 of the pay matrix (Rs 1,23100 Rs. 2,15,900), 04 vacancies of Associate Professor (Medical) in the level-12 of the pay matrix (Rs. 78,800-Rs.2,09,200) (SC-01, OBC-01 & UR-02) and 09 vacancies of of Assistant Professor (Medical) (SC-01; ST-01, OBC-04, EWS-01 & UR-02) at BMHRC, Bhopal the level-11 of the pay matrix (Rs.67,700-Rs.208700) from Indian Citizens for appointment on regular basis under Direct Recruitment with all India transfer liability under the Council in the following Departments:-

2. Essential Qualifications for Professor:

(1) A recognised Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree qualification Included the First Schedule or Second Schedule or Part II of the Third Schedule (other than licentiate qualifications) to the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 (102 of 1956) and holders of educational. qualifications included in Part II of the Third Schedule should also fulfill the conditions specified

in sub-section (3) of section 13 of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 (102 of 1956); (II) Post-Graduate Degree in the specialty or super-specialty in the following courses, namely:

A. Cardiology- Doctorate of Medicine (Cardiology); or

B. Cardio Thoracic and Vascular Surgery (CTVS) Magister Chirurgule (Cardio Thoracic and Vascular Surgery) or Magister Chirurgule (Thoracic Surgery); or Magister Chirurgule (Cardio Surgery) or Magister Chirurgule (Vascular Surgery); or

C. Psychiatry Doctor of Medicine (Psychiatry) or Doctor of Medicine (Psychological Medicine) or Doctor of Medicine in Medicine with Diploma in Psychological Medicine or Diploma in Psychiatry (Edin) of two years course or Diploma in Psychiatry (Mc. Gill) University, Montreal, Canada of two years course.

(III) Twelve years’ standing in the profession with extensive practical and administrative experience, out of which at least four years’ experience should be as an Associate Professor in the concerned Department in a medical college or recognized teaching institution of medical education after the requisite post-graduate degree qualification.

Note 1: In the case of holders of Doctorate of Medicine (D.M.) or Magister of Chirugule (M.ch.) qualification of five years duration, the period of senior post-graduate residency rendered in the last part of the said Doctorate of Medicine (D.M.) or Magister of Chirugule (M.Ch.) shall be counted towards requirement of teaching experience.

Note 2: Teaching experience in any other post like the post of General Duty Medical Officer or Medical Officer shall not be considered for eligibility purpose for recruitment to teaching posts.

Note 3: The educational qualification will be prescribed discipline-wise at the time of the advertisernent.

Note 4: Qualifications are relaxable at the discretion of the Union Public Service Commission for reasons to be recorded in writing, in the case of candidates otherwise well qualified..

Note 5: The qualifications regarding experience are relaxable at the discretion of the Union Public Service Commission, for reasons to be recorded in writing in the case of candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes or the Scheduled Tribes if at any stage of selection the Union Public Service Commission is of the opinion that sufficient number of candidates from these communities possessing the requisite experience are not likely to be available to fill up the vacancies reserved for them,

3. Essential Qualifications for Associate Professor:

(1) A recognized Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree qualification included in the First Schedule or Second Schedule or Part II of the Third Schedule (other than licentiate qualifications) to the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 (102 of 1956) and holders of educational qualifications included in Part II of the Third Third Schedule should also fulfill the conditions specified in sub-section (3) of section 13 of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 (102 of 1956);

(II) Post-Graduate Degree in the specialty or super-specialty in the following courses, namely:

A. Cardiology-Doctorate of Medicine (Cardiology); or B. Neurology Doctorate of Medicine (Neurology); or

C. Cardio Thoracic and Vascular Surgery (CTVS) Magister Chirurgule (Cardio Thoracic and Vascular Surgery) or Magister Chirurgule (Thoracic Surgery); or Magister Chirurgule (Cardio Surgery) or Magister Chirurgule (Vascular Surgery); or D. Radiology Doctor of Medicine (Radio-diagnosis) or Doctor of Medicine (Radiology) or Master of Surgery (Radiology)

(III) At least five years experience in the concerned specialty or super-specialty as senior resident or tutor or demonstrator or registrar or lecturer In a recognized teaching institution, after obtaining the first post-graduate degree, out of which at least two years shall be as an Assistant Professor.

4. Essential Qualifications for Assistant Professor:

(1) A recognised Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) degree qualification included In the First Schedule or Second Schedule or Part II of the Third Schedule (other than licentiate qualifications) to the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 (102of1956) and holders of educational qualifications Included In Part II of the Third Schedule should also fulfill the conditions specified in sub-section (3) of section 13 of the Indian Medical Council Act, 1956 (102 of 1956);

(II) Post-graduate Degree in the speciality or super-speciality in the following courses, namely:-

A. Cardio Thoracic and Vascular Surgery (CTVS) (CTVS) Magister Chirurgule (Cardio Thoracic and Vascular Surgery) or Magister Chirurgule (Thoracic Surgery); or Magister Chirurgule (Cardio Surgery) or Magister Chirurgule (Vascular Surgery);

B. Gastro Medicine- Doctorate of Medicine (Medical Gastroenterology); or Doctorate of Medicine (Gastroenterology); or Doctor of Medicine (Medicine); or Doctor of Medicine (Pediatrics) with

two years special training in Gastroenterology; or

C. Nephrology Doctorate of Medicine (Nephrology); or

D. Surgical Oncology- Magister Chirurgule (Surgical Oncology) or Master of Surgery or Master of Surgery (Ear, Nose, Throat) or Master of Surgery (Orthopaedics) or Doctor of Meditine (Obstetrics and Gynaecology) with two years special training in Surgical

D Neurology- Doctorate of Medicine (Neurology); ar

Gastro surgery Magister Chirurgule (Surgical Gastroenterology); or Master of Surgery (Surgery) with two years special training in Surgical Gastroenterology; or Neurosurgery Magister Chirurgule (Neuro-Surgery); or

F Transfusion Medicine- Doctorate of Medicine (Immunology) or Doctor of Medicine (Immuno-Haematology and Blood Transfusion) or Doctor of Medicine (Pathology or Bacteriology or Haematology) with two years teaching experience or special training in the department of Immuno-Haematology and Blood Transfusion or

G Radiology Doctor of Medicine (Radio-diagnosis) or Doctor of Medicine (Radiology) or Master of Surgery (Radiology); or

Urology- Magister Chirurgule (Urology)

(III) Experience: At least three years’ teaching experience as Senior Resident or Tutor or Demonstrator or Registrar in the concerned specialty obtaining the first postgraduate degree super-specialty in a recognized teaching Institution, after

Note 1: Holder of DNB qualification should submit an equivalent Certificate from NBE that his/her DNB qualification is equivalent to MD/MS or DM/MCh in terms of the Gazette notification No MCI 12(2)/2018-Med.Misc/142810 dated 31.10.2018 published on 01.11.2018.

Note 2: In the case of holders of Doctorate of Medicine (D.M.) or Magister of Chirugule (M. 5. Fee: Application Fee of Rs. 1500/- (Rupees one thousand five hundred only) is required. SC/ST/Women/ PWBD/ EWS candidates are exempted from application fee.

6 How to apply:

7. Other conditions:

1) Application should be submitted along with online application fees. Application’s hard copy need not be sent to ICMR Hars.

2) In the event of any false information furnished or suppression of any material in the application coming to notice, at any time during the recruitment process or thereafter of a person, his/her candidature/ services would be liable to be terminated.

3) Incomplete Application without supportive documents is liable to be rejected.

4) At the time of personal discussion, the applicants working in Centre/State Government Department/Public Sector Undertakings 8. Govt. funded research agencies, must produce a ‘No.

Objection Certificate’ from the employer that “the applicant will be relieved within one month of his/her receipt of appointment order.

5) Any outside influence (political or otherwise) brought in by a candidate or his/her family members, shail disqualify him/her.

6) Any matter, for which no specific instruction has been given, shall be decided by ICMR and the

decision shall be final and binding on the candidates. 7) Any further detail I communication shall only be displayed on ICMR website. Candidates are

requested to regularly visit ICMR Website, for any updates. 8) Any dispute with regard to the recruitment against the advertisement will be under the jurisdiction of New Delhi Court.

& Short listing Criteria:-

a. The short listing is based on criteria fixed by ICMR.

b. In the first instance, all the candidates who fulfill minimum eligibility in respect of age, educational qualifications and experience (wherever required) shall be short-listed.

c. If the number of such shortlisted candidates are high and it is not possible to call all of them for Interview, then the ICMR shall further shortlist the candidates,

on the basis of some suitable short-listing criteria, as may be fixed by the Appointing Authority i.e. DG, ICMR. Though this may vary from case to case, depending on merits, ICMR generally prefers to call candidates with higher experience in the relevant fields or candidates with higher educational qualification as the case may be.

Note: The purpose of short-listing candidates is to restrict, to a reasonable limit, the number of candidates to be called for interview

keeping in view the number of vacancies available at a time, the number of candidates satisfying the Essential Qualifications and other conditions prescribed.

In order to rationalize the time of the interview Boards and also to reasonably restrict the number of candidates to be called for interview, a set of norms have been adopted with the approval of the Competent Authority, which are indicated below:

For one vacancy

Up to 12 Candidates

For 2-3 vacancies

Up to 24 Candidates

For 4-6 vacancies

Up to 36 Candidates

For 7-9 vacancies

Up to 48 Candidates

For 10 vacancies and above

Up to 50 Candidates or above (5 times the number of vacancies)
