Selection of Junior Research Fellows

Bhabha Atomic Research Centre (BARC), Mumbai invites applications from interested students for the award of JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOWSHIP at this Centre. All the selected candidates will register for Ph.D. in Homi Bhabha National Institute (HBNI), a deemed to be University of Department of Atomic Energy.
No. of Fellowships: 105 (Indicative)
Qualification: M.Sc./Integrated M.Sc./FOUR Years B.S. Course in Physics/Chemistry/ Life Sciences.
Selection Procedure: Candidates will be shortlisted for interview based on their VALID Score (on 01-08-2025) obtained in the national qualifying exams and/or academic performance: (i) UGC-CSIR-NET Fellowship (SLET/ Lectureship not eligible) (ii) JEST Score (iii) ICMR-JRF Test, ICAR- JRF Test (iv) DBT-JRB Biotechnology Eligibility Test (v) GATE Score in Physics / Chemistry / Life Sciences / Biotechnology (vi) JGEEBILS
Age Limit: Candidate must be an Indian national and should be less than 28 years of age as on 01-08-2025. Age relaxation is applicable up to 3 years in case of OBC-NCL, 5 years for SC & ST and 10 years for PwBD candidates. Final selection will be based on the performance of the candidate in the interview.
Fellowship:- Rs. 37,000/- per month for JRF and annual contingency grant of Rs. 60,000/- Medical benefits under CHSS are also available for JRF candidate (research scholar only). The total duration of this fellowship is five years. Stay in the provided hostel and payment of mess charges are mandatory during the Ph.D. programme.
