Islamic University of Science and Technology (IUST), Awantipora, a premier State University established under the J&K Government Act No. XVIII of 2005, has invited nominations and applications from distinguished academics for the position of Vice Chancellor. The university is NAAC accredited and recognised by UGC under Sections 2(f) and 12(B) as well as AICTE.

विश्वविद्यालय इंजीनियरिंग, प्रबंधन, विज्ञान, मानविकी और इस्लामिक अध्ययन में कार्यक्रम प्रदान करता है, जिसका लक्ष्य राष्ट्रीय एवं वैश्विक मानकों के अनुरूप अनुसंधान-संचालित, नवाचार-प्रेरित शिक्षा को बढ़ावा देना है।

The Selection Committee, constituted vide Order No. 04‑LGS of 2026 dated 28‑02‑2026 (read with Order No. 32‑LGS of 2026 dated 29.08.2026) issued by the Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor’s Secretariat, invites applications as per the IUST Act, 2005, UGC Regulations, 2018, and other statutory provisions.

चयन समिति, माननीय उपराज्यपाल सचिवालय द्वारा जारी आदेश संख्या 04‑LGS/2026 दिनांक 28‑02‑2026 (आदेश संख्या 32‑LGS/2026 दिनांक 29.08.2026 के साथ पठित) के अनुसार, IUST अधिनियम, 2005, UGC विनियम, 2018 और अन्य वैधानिक प्रावधानों के तहत आवेदन आमंत्रित करती है।

Role and Responsibilities: The Vice Chancellor is the principal academic and executive head of the University. Key responsibilities include: providing academic vision and strategic leadership; overseeing academic, administrative, financial, and developmental activities; ensuring implementation of NEP 2020; fostering research, innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration; enhancing national and international standing; promoting equity and inclusion; building industry‑academia linkages; and ensuring financial sustainability.

भूमिका एवं उत्तरदायित्व: कुलपति विश्वविद्यालय के प्रमुख शैक्षणिक एवं कार्यकारी प्रमुख होते हैं। प्रमुख जिम्मेदारियों में शैक्षणिक दृष्टि एवं रणनीतिक नेतृत्व प्रदान करना; शैक्षणिक, प्रशासनिक, वित्तीय एवं विकासात्मक गतिविधियों की देखरेख; NEP 2020 का कार्यान्वयन सुनिश्चित करना; अनुसंधान, नवाचार एवं अंतःविषय सहयोग को बढ़ावा देना; राष्ट्रीय एवं अंतर्राष्ट्रीय स्तर को बढ़ाना; समानता एवं समावेशन को बढ़ावा देना; उद्योग-अकादमिक संबंध बनाना; तथा वित्तीय स्थिरता सुनिश्चित करना शामिल है।

Eligibility Criteria: The candidate shall be a distinguished academic/eminent scholar with a Ph.D. degree and a consistently outstanding academic record, with demonstrated academic and institutional leadership. Minimum ten (10) years of experience as Professor in a University or ten (10) years in a reputed research/academic administrative organisation with demonstrable academic leadership. The candidate must possess high academic standing, integrity, moral stature and institutional commitment.

पात्रता मानदंड: उम्मीदवार एक प्रतिष्ठित शिक्षाविद्/प्रख्यात विद्वान होना चाहिए, जिसके पास Ph.D. डिग्री और उत्कृष्ट शैक्षणिक रिकॉर्ड हो, तथा शैक्षणिक एवं संस्थागत नेतृत्व का प्रदर्शन हो। विश्वविद्यालय में प्रोफेसर के रूप में न्यूनतम दस (10) वर्ष का अनुभव या किसी प्रतिष्ठित अनुसंधान/शैक्षणिक प्रशासनिक संगठन में दस वर्ष का अनुभव, जिसमें शैक्षणिक नेतृत्व का प्रमाण हो। उम्मीदवार के पास उच्च शैक्षणिक स्तर, अखंडता, नैतिक गरिमा और संस्थागत प्रतिबद्धता होनी चाहिए।

Age Limit: The candidate shall not be more than 65 years as on the last date of receipt of applications. During the tenure of office, the Vice Chancellor shall not continue beyond the age of 70 years. The term of office is three (03) years, extendable up to five (05) years from the date of assumption of charge, or until attaining the age of 70, whichever is earlier.

आयु सीमा: आवेदन की अंतिम तिथि पर उम्मीदवार की आयु 65 वर्ष से अधिक नहीं होनी चाहिए। कार्यकाल के दौरान कुलपति 70 वर्ष की आयु से अधिक नहीं रह सकते। कार्यकाल तीन (03) वर्ष का है, जो कार्यभार ग्रहण करने की तिथि से पाँच (05) वर्ष तक बढ़ाया जा सकता है, या 70 वर्ष की आयु प्राप्त होने पर, जो भी पहले हो।

Emoluments and Service Conditions: Pay and allowances as per UGC regulations/IUST Act, 2005. Official furnished residence within the University campus. Other benefits as applicable under the IUST Act, Statutes, and Regulations.

General Conditions: The Selection Committee reserves the right to shortlist candidates and withdraw/cancel the advertisement at any stage. Canvassing in any form shall be treated as disqualification.
