Advertisement Notice for Contractual Assistant Professor(s)

Online applications are invited from eligible candidates for engagement as Contractual Assistant Professor(s) on academic arrangement for teaching, research and allied academic activities in the following Departments/Subjects:

| Journalism and Mass Communication | (i) A Master’s degree with 55% marks or an equivalent grade in a point-scale wherever the grading system is followed in a concerned / relevant /allied subject from an Indian University, or an equivalent degree from an accredited foreign University. |

| | (ii) Besides fulfilling the above qualifications, the candidate must have cleared the National Eligibility Test (NET) conducted by the UGC or the CSIR, or a similar test accredited by the UGC, like SLET/SET or who are or have been awarded Ph.D. Degree in accordance with the University Grants Commission (Minimum Standards and Procedure for Award of M.Phil/Ph.D. Degree) Regulations, 2009 or 2016 and their amendments from time to time as the case may be exempted from NET/SLET/SET. |

I. Emoluments:

For candidates having:

* PG: Rs. 45,000/- per month

* NET/SET/GATE: Rs. 48,000/- per month

* Ph.D.: Rs. 50,000/- per month

* NET/SET/GATE and Ph.D.: Rs. 50,000/- per month

II. Tenure:

The engagement is initially for the year 2025 ending 31^{\text{st}} December, 2025 or till the post is filled on substantive basis (whichever is earlier) and is extendable on the basis of annual performance appraisal by the University based on the recommendations of the concerned Head of the Department, Student feedback, requirement and other related parameters.

III. Leaves/Vacations:

As per norms of the university governing such engagements.

IV. How to Apply:

Eligible candidates shall apply online and pay the requisite fee of Rs 500/- (non-refundable) and thereafter submit the hard copy of the application form along with self-attested copies of the documents and certificates in the concerned Department on any working day by or before the last date for submission. The candidature of those who fail to submit the hard copies shall not be considered.

V. Screening/Shortlisting / Selection Procedures:

The shortlisting of the candidates for interview shall be made as per the criteria/ parameters of UGC Regulations-2018 (Appendix II [Table 3A]) and the criteria for shortlisting of candidates for interview for the post of Assistant Professor shall be as follows: 20 candidates shall be shortlisted for one post and 05 candidates for every additional post, and the final selection shall be made strictly as per the UGC Regulations 2018 (interview only). Further, the panel recommended by the selection committee shall be valid for one year and during this year, if any vacancy arises due to the resignation or any other reason, the vacancy shall be filled from the panel.

VII. Terms and Conditions:

* Candidates are required to apply online through University website \text{www.iust.ac.in}. No other means/ mode of application will be accepted. The non-refundable fee of Rs. 500/- (Rupees five hundred only) shall have to be deposited as application fee through online mode by debit card/ credit card/ net banking. The instructions to be followed for filling of online application are available on University website.

* The candidates are advised to fill up the online application form carefully. Information not provided under the relevant heads/ columns shall not be considered.

* Candidates will have to produce original documents relating to their qualification, experience etc. at the time of appearing in the interview.

* No TA/DA shall be paid to candidates for appearing in the interview.

* The time taken by candidates to acquire PG / M.Phil and/or Ph.D degree shall not be considered as teaching / research experience. The period of active service spent on pursuing Research Degree simultaneously with teaching assignment without taking any kind of leave (Part time), shall be counted as teaching experience subject to the submission of certificate to this effect issued by the concerned employer.

* Qualifications / Experiences shall be counted as on the last date of submission of the application forms.

* Any publications in predatory / dubious journals or presentations in predatory / dubious conferences shall not be considered for academic credit for selection or confirmation. With effect from 14-06-2023, research publications from journals included in UGC CARE List only would be considered for all academic purposes.

* An undertaking is to be given by the candidate stating that ‘the publications submitted by him / her are free from any plagiarism and if any plagiarism is found later, his / her candidature/selection shall stand rejected’.

* In case of any disputes /suites or legal proceedings against the University, the jurisdiction shall be confined to the court of Srinagar only.

* The engagement of the recommended candidates shall be subject to the outcome of the writ petition(s) (if any) pending in the Hon’ble Court of J&K.

* Eligible candidates will be informed about the date and place of interview through University website/e-mail whichever deemed suitable by the University and shall not take any responsibility for non-receipt or delayed receipt of the intimation by a candidate.

* Candidates who have been awarded postgraduate/Ph.D degree from Foreign University should enclose Equivalence Certificate issued by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU), New Delhi without which their candidature will not be considered, and application form will be rejected.

* All relevant information /updates shall be uploaded on University website \text{www.iust.ac.in}. The candidates are advised to remain in touch with University website and notifying the same in newspapers shall not be obligatory on University part.

* The University reserves the right to alter/insert any corrections/additions in the advertisement/website in the event of any typographical error etc. before the last date prescribed for the receipt of applications, for which the candidates are advised to remain in touch with the official website: \text{www.iust.ac.in}.

* The University reserves the right to modify/withdraw/cancel any communication made to the candidate(s) at any stage in the process of selection in case any inadvertent mistake is detected even after the issue of appointment letter.

* The salary / engagement order(s) in favour of the recommended candidate(s) shall not be issued until a satisfactory report about their character & antecedents from relevant agencies / institutions is received.

* The University reserves the right to terminate the contract mid-way in view of unsatisfactory performance of the candidate by giving one-month notice or one-month salary in lieu of notice.

* The candidate who intends to resign shall have to submit one-month notice in advance or one-month salary in lieu of notice.
