ADVERTISEMENT NOTIFICATION
Applications are invited from highly motivated and eligible candidates for the position of Research Assistant for an
ICSSR funded research project titled “Minorities and Political Participation: Understanding the Nature of
Kashmiri Shia Politics and its Impact on Changing Political Discourse in Jammu & Kashmir.” The engagement
will be governed by the terms and conditions outlined below.

Essential Qualification Post-Graduate with NET./Ph.D./M.Phil. /in any Social Science
discipline or a subject relevant to the research area, with at least 55%
marks.
Desirable Skills 1. Good academic writing skills.
2. Ability to manage both research and administrative work.
3. Ability to conduct archival research.
Duration of Engagement 1 year (purely temporary and coterminous with the project)

Monthly Emolument Rs. 37,000 per month (consolidated)
Interested candidates are requested to send their recent CV and necessary supporting documents such as academic certificates and

[email protected] with the subject marked as “Application for RA Position” by 17/08/2025. Interviews of the eligible
candidates will be held in the Office of the Head, Centre for International Relations, IUST, Awantipora.
GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS:
1. The engagement is purely temporary and can be terminated at any time without prior notice if performance is found
unsatisfactory. Performance will be reviewed monthly.
2. Selection will be based exclusively on the interview.
3. Salary disbursal is contingent upon release of funds by the funding agency.
4. The Research Assistant will not be provided authorship in publications emerging from this project.
5. The selected candidate must join immediately upon receiving the appointment order.
6. The selected candidate may also be required to conduct field work as per the need of the project.
7. Candidates must bring all the testimonials/certificates (in original and one attested copy) at the time of the interview.
8. No TA/DA will be paid to the candidates appearing for the interview.
9. The University reserves the right to cancel or not fill the advertised position without assigning any reason.
10. If a candidate wishes to withdraw, a one-month notice or salary in lieu thereof is required.
11. The terms and conditions of service will be as per University and/or ICSSR rules, subject to amendment from time to
time.
