Applications on plain paper are invited from the eligible and motivated candidates for the position of Junior Research Fellow (JRF) on the project titled:
“Identifying current and future GLOF risk over contrasting topographic and climatic zones of Indian Himalaya using earth observation data and modeling”
The project is sponsored by the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES), Government of India.
The project is in favour of Dr. Irfan Rashid, Associate Professor, Department of Geoinformatics, University of Kashmir, Srinagar.
The appointment is purely temporary and shall remain co-terminus with the duration of the project, i.e., up to 11-10-2026.

The current project focuses on Glacial Lake Outburst Floods (GLOFs), a significant threat in the Hindu Kush-Himalayan region. Utilizing Earth Observation (EO) data and advanced geospatial modeling, the research aims to predict and mitigate risks associated with retreating glaciers and expanding glacial lakes.
This position offers a prestigious opportunity to work under the MoES framework, gaining hands-on experience in Remote Sensing, GIS, and high-altitude field surveys.
