ADVERTISEMENT NOTICE
Applications on plain paper are invited from eligible and motivated candidates for the following positions under the research project titled:
“Permafrost under climate change in two contrasting catchments of the western Himalaya: implications for infrastructure and lives of marginal communities”
The project is sponsored by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF), Government of India, under the Advanced Research Grant (ARG) Scheme

The project is led by Dr. Irfan Rashid (Principal Investigator), Associate Professor, Department of Geoinformatics, and Prof. Gh. Jeelani (Co-Principal Investigator), Department of Earth Science, University of Kashmir, Srinagar.

Terms and Application Process
- Nature of Position:
The positions are purely temporary, initially for one year, and may be extended up to five years, co-terminus with the project, subject to availability of funding from ANRF. - How to Apply:

The University of Kashmir (KU), accredited with NAAC Grade “A+”, is a premier institution located in Srinagar. The Department of Geoinformatics is well known for its research in high-altitude environments, climate change, cryosphere studies, and disaster management.
This project, funded by the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF)—a newly established national body to promote advanced research across Indian universities—focuses on Himalayan Permafrost, a critical yet under-studied component influencing land stability, water security, and infrastructure safety in the Western Himalayas.
Selected candidates will gain exposure to cutting-edge research at the Alpine Research Lab, contributing directly to climate resilience strategies for marginal communities in the Himalayan region.
