National Health Mission NHM J&K Recruitment Notice 2026

The Mission Director, National Health Mission, J&K, has released an official advertisement notice for the recruitment of Psychiatrists (Specialists) under the District Mental Health Programme (DMHP). These positions are strictly on a contractual basis to strengthen mental health services across various districts of Jammu and Kashmir.

Qualified medical professionals with a background in Psychiatry are encouraged to review the eligibility criteria. This recruitment drive aims to fill a total of 15 vacancies distributed across both the Kashmir and Jammu divisions, ensuring specialized care is accessible at the district level.

Psychiatrist (Specialist) for DMHP

MBBS with MD/DNB in Psychiatry or equivalent degree from an institution recognised by the National Medical Commission (NMC) of India.

Age upto 65 years

Total: 15

(Kashmir Division 05): Pulwama, Bandipora, Shopian, Anantnag & Baramulla

(Jammu Division 10): Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Reasi, Udhampur, Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban, Rajouri & Poonch

Rs. 85,000/- per month

i. MBBS: 60 Points
ii. PG Diploma: 10 Points (across the board)
iii. PG Degree (20 Points across the board)
iv. Viva-Voce: 20 Points
Note: Item No. (i) on Pro-rata basis.

Terms and Conditions

Hiring is purely on a contractual basis. The initial contract shall be up to 31st March of the financial year in which selection is made. Subsequent yearly extensions are subject to satisfactory performance and approval from the Ministry of Health & Family Welfare, Govt. of India.

Preference will be given to candidates from the concerned district. A district-wise merit list will be prepared. If a suitable candidate from the local district is unavailable, divisional merit will be considered. Candidates must be residents of the UT of Jammu & Kashmir.

The number of vacancies mentioned is indicative and may increase or decrease based on requirements. Applicants are advised to regularly monitor official channels for updates as no individual communication will be sent.

Submission Particulars

Interested specialists should prepare their documentation including Date of Birth certificate, Domicile certificate, and MBBS/PG marks sheets and registration certificates. Ensure all documents are verified by the NMC or J&K State Medical Council.

The final date for the receipt of complete documentation is 26th February 2026. Late submissions via any mode will not be processed.
