Applications are now open for the Swedish Institute (SI) Scholarships for Global Professionals, a prestigious Swedish government programme offering fully funded master’s study in Sweden. The scholarship aims to develop future global leaders who can contribute to the sustainable development of their home countries and advance key international goals.
The programme is funded by the Swedish Ministry for Foreign Affairs and administered by the Swedish Institute. It provides outstanding applicants with the opportunity to pursue high‑quality, English‑taught master’s programmes at top Swedish universities.
Applicants may choose from more than 400 eligible master’s programmes across a wide range of disciplines, including governance, public health, sustainability, innovation and entrepreneurship, and STEM fields. For the full list of eligible programmes, please visit: Eligible Programmes
A competitive application must clearly demonstrate how the chosen master’s programme aligns with relevant sustainable development goals and how the applicant intends to contribute to long‑term positive change in their home country or region.
Successful applicants receive extensive financial support, including full tuition fee coverage paid directly to the university, a monthly stipend of 12,000 SEK for living expenses, a travel grant of 15,000 SEK for students outside Sweden, medical insurance, and membership in the SI Network for Future Global Professionals. Upon graduation, scholars join the global SI Alumni Network.
To be eligible, applicants must be citizens of an eligible country, apply to one to four eligible master’s programmes via University Admissions by 15 January 2026, and demonstrate a minimum level of professional work experience and leadership involvement. Applicants must also meet the academic entry requirements of their chosen programmes.
The application process consists of two steps. First, candidates must apply for their chosen master’s programmes via University Admissions. Second, they must submit a separate SI Scholarship application during the application window, which runs from 9 to 25 February 2026. Required documents include a CV, proof of work and leadership experience, two letters of reference, and a motivation statement.
University admission results will be released in late March 2026, followed by scholarship award decisions in late April. Given the highly competitive nature of the programme, applicants are encouraged to prepare early and ensure that all documents are submitted correctly.
